As IS&T transitions people from their current phones to the new VOIP Phones several activities must occur in coordination:
- IS&T reviews current phone configurations by Department as a starting point for setting up the new system.
- Current phone configuration information is used to set up the new phone system within UMDNJ.
- Our voice carrier ports phone numbers to the new environment.
- Cut-over to the new phones.
To ensure a successful and cost-effective migration, it is critical that phone system changes be restricted while phone numbers are being ported to the new VOIP-based environment. The migration will take place over a period of approximately six weeks following the initial phone configuration review. Only critical changes such as those impacting public safety or patient care will be considered during this time.
To enforce this moratorium period, all requests for phone changes (except voicemail password resets) for departments that are being cut-over should be directed to the department's IT Leader to discuss the request.
Only written requests from IT Leaders for exceptions to the moratorium will be accommodated. These requests should identify the:
- Requester name
- Requester location
- Details of the request
- Phone number(s) impacted
- Extenuating circumstances requiring the exception
- IT Leader's recommendation that the requested change be accommodated
Any questions regarding this approach can be directed to the appropriate IT Leader:
